How Learning and Teaching Works at UCA

Learning and Teaching operates as a distributed model across UCA’s campuses. Heads of School are responsible for facilitating good practice in learning and teaching practice across their courses.

In support of this model, the university’ Learning and Teaching Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of learning, teaching and assessment strategies and the establishment of policies governing University approaches to pedagogy. It reports to the Academic Quality Committee on the enhancement of student learning opportunities, and for ensuring that best practice is captured and rolled out across the University.

Support for staff with Learning and Teaching is provided by:

  • Maria Tannant and Tony Reeves (Programme Managers in Digital Pedagogy)
    – Leading digital transformation in learning technology across the university
  • Dr. Gill Nah and Dr. Nicholas Houghton (Course Leader and Senior Lecturer on the Creative Arts Education courses)
    – Leading professional development through the Graduate Certificate, Postgraduate Certificate and MA in Creative Arts Education
  • John Sutter & Sharon Hocking (Learning Enhancement and Support Managers)
    – Support with inclusive curriculum design
  • Tracy Ashmore, Liz Thomson, Ellen Brown, Steve Dixon-Smith, Katy Reeves, Nicola Whittingham (Learning Development Tutors)
    – Support with inclusive practice in design of new courses
